Role Summary

Elena is interested in person-centred approaches to self-management interventions for people with long-term health conditions. For over 10 years, the Marjon Health and Wellbeing team have been delivering highly valued and effective person-centred programmes to support and empower people with long-term conditions. Based on the Marjon approach to improving people’s health and wellbeing, her PhD is looking to build and test theory about how group-based interventions of this nature work, for whom, in which circumstances and why. 

 


Qualifications

  • Master of Osteopathy - Registered Osteopath (GOsC)
  • PgCert Sport and Exercise Medicine
  • Qualified Teacher Status - Secondary Education (Biology)
  • FHEA (Advance HE Fellowship)


Teaching

Elena has previously taught in Secondary Education and in Higher Education at Oxford Brookes University and Cardiff Metropolitan University, teaching on osteopathy and sport rehabilitation programmes. She is currently a clinic tutor in the Marjon Osteopathy Clinic and a current external examiner for the Master of Osteopathy Programme at Swansea University.

Other Interests

Sport and exercise medicine; ultra-endurance sport; safety and clinical decision making in manual therapy; and complex health interventions.  

In her spare time Elena enjoys trail-running and marathon kayak racing, in particular ultra-distances in both.
