I am interested in identity, understanding what makes us who we are and why this is significant for lecturers in college higher education, where I am a lecturer.
Combined with my love of all things creative, I am keen to explore the perceptions of being an academic in college higher education. This guided me to pursue a research project using bead collage as a research tool: to explore, discussion and reflect on key aspects of academic identity. As I now move to the consolidation stage of my PhD, where I am uniting my research, I am beginning to gain a sense of my own self-identity in the college higher education community.
I have taught higher education courses for the last 15 years. The focus of my teaching is on education exploring reflective practices, social pedagogy, the philosophy of education and research.
I have written foundation degrees and BA courses for a range of programmes including: Early Years Care and Education, Education BAs, Teaching and Learning, Criminology and Psychology, Young People and Community Services, Adventure and Coaching. I am an Eternal Examiner for Carshalton College on behalf of Roehampton University and Lowestoft College on behalf of Suffolk University.

I have had a chapter published with my supervisors in Thriving as a Professional Teacher: How to be a Principled Professional edited by Ian Luke and Jan Gourd.
I love reading, being creative including crocheting and knitting. I enjoy walking, cycling, and meeting new people.
