Integrated Master in Osteopathy

We look forward to welcoming you to your interview at Plymouth Marjon University. The interview is an important part of the application process - it allows us to assess your suitability for the programme you have applied for, and it also gives you the opportunity to decide whether Marjon is the right place for you to study. Our Osteopathic Medicine Interview Days are in person; this is our preference to provide you with a tour of our Health and Wellbeing Hub facilities. However, if you require a virtual interview, please contact interviews@marjon.ac.uk 

During your in-person interview, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Have a tour of the university campus 
  • Welcome Talk from Academic Director 
  • Find out more about the course with John Evans 
  • 15-minute individual interview 
  • Meet current Students and learn about student life at Marjon 

 

Interview tasks

During the interview session, applicants will be assessed using the following criteria: 

  • Personal qualities 
  • Knowledge of course commitments 
  • Knowledge of profession 
  • Communication skills 

 

What to bring with you (in person)

  • Photo ID 

 

What to have ready (virtual) 

  • Photo ID 
  • A suitable device with a microphone and a webcam 
  • A stable internet connection 
  • A quiet place where you will be undisturbed 

 

Schedule for the day (in person)

Please note timings can vary depending on how many candidates are in attendance. 

8:30-9:00 - Arrive at The Welcome Desk and register with our Student Ambassadors 

9:00-9:45 - Campus tour led by our Student Ambassadors 

9:45-10:00 - Department Welcome Talk with Academic Director 

10:00-10:30 - Course Introduction Talk with John Evans 

10:30-10:45 - Comfort break with provided refreshments 

10:45-onwards - Individual interviews (once your interview has been conducted you are free to leave) 

 

Meet the team

John is a qualified Osteopath and is a qualified Acupuncturist, Sonographer, Nutritionist, strength and conditioning coach and advanced rehabilitation specialist. 

John developed Actively Intelligent Rehabilitation (AIR) following severe damage to his Axillary nerves in his shoulders which lead to months of severe pain, muscle wasting and the inability to lift his arms. 

He researched the best foods and vitamins for nerve repair & anti-inflammatory properties and went into greater depth exploring the exercises, used visualisation and mindfulness and had osteopathic treatment as needed. 

Out of this experience he developed AIR, a complete health care system that takes into account your pain, your nutritional needs, your physical rehabilitation needs, acute and chronic pain management, your fitness needs and your strength and reconditioning needs. 

 

What happens next?

If you are successful in securing a place on our Osteopathic Medicine programme, you will be notified via UCAS. 

  • If you are made an offer, and you accept, you will be required to take part in an occupational health screening procedure to ensure that you are fit to practice in a healthcare setting.  
  • You will also be required to obtain a DBS Check. We will contact you on how to do this as this cannot be obtained independently. 
  • You will also be required to obtain the relevant vaccinations, or evidence immunity. We will contact you after an offer on what you will need to do. 

Unsuccessful candidates will be made an alternative offer, where suitable.
