Plymouth has been ranked as the 20th cheapest city for student accommodation in the UK. StudentCrowd, an organisation providing independent reviews of institutions for students, conducted the research.
Plymouth ranked 20th in the UK and 15th in England, ahead of Exeter, Bristol, and Falmouth, with students in Bristol paying (on average) up to 41% more than those in Plymouth.
The rating is provided using averaged accommodation prices submitted by students, broken down into three categories.
71 cities were rated based on the prices of a shared flat with a shared bathroom, a shared flat with an ensuite, and a studio apartment.
Plymouth was also voted 15th best city in the UK and 11th in England for students under five categories: cost of living, shopping, restaurants, public transport, and nights out, putting Plymouth above London, Exeter, and Portsmouth.
In 2022, Plymouth was rated the most relaxing city in the UK1, 4th most active city in the UK2, 7th in the UK for nightlife3, and 12th most popular city in England4.
The growing city has played host repeatedly to the British Firework Championships and Sail GP, the international sailing competition drawing competitors from across the globe and interest from guests including the Princess of Wales.
The city has also hosted MTV Crashes Plymouth and later Ocean City Sounds, attracting stars such as Jess Glynne, Jax Jones, and Charli XCX.
