Plymouth Marjon University congratulates Helen Glover on King’s 2025 New Year Honours List OBE

Plymouth Marjon University is proud to congratulate our alumna, Helen Glover, on being appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the King’s 2025 New Year Honours List. Helen’s remarkable achievements in rowing and dedication to her sport have inspired countless individuals, and this recognition is a testament to her hard work, perseverance, and positive impact both on and off the water. 

Helen Glover, a double Olympic gold medallist, has long been a source of pride for Marjon. After graduating from the University with a PGCE, she went on to achieve unparalleled success in rowing, securing her place as one of the UK’s greatest athletes. Her inspiring journey from a student at Plymouth Marjon to a global sports icon is an example to many. 

Throughout her career, Helen has excelled as an athlete, and he has championed important causes, including raising awareness about mental health, promoting women in sport, and giving back to her local community. Her commitment to helping others and her sporting achievements make this honour even more deserved. 

 In response to the announcement, Professor Claire Taylor, Vice-Chancellor of Plymouth Marjon University, said:
