Plymouth Marjon University Careers Coach wins prestigious award

Philippa ElfordThe award recognises Phillipa’s expertise as a Careers Coach at Marjon. Working as a part of the Marjon Futures team. Futures Online is Marjon’s interactive online careers development platform, designed to enhance the face to face support offered to students, staff and alumni. Marjon collaborates with Abintegro to provide students with a range of online careers services specifically tailored to meet their needs.

Philippa said: “It’s really nice to be recognised by Abintegro, the company who actually create and provide the software – and we were up against a lot of other big institutions at the conference, so it’s really nice to be recognised”.

Abintegro, who count many academic institutions amongst their clients, host an annual conference that allows Universities to come together to share best practice around careers and employability.  At the conference, Abintegro present awards to institutions and individuals who have maximised the effective use of the online platform in many ways.

Phillipa continued: “This award reinforces our commitment to employability and careers at Marjon, and it’s reassuring that our students and alumni have access to cutting-edge technology to help them develop and secure graduate-level employment.

“We have an offer for our alumni, which means they can come back and ask any questions, but importantly they have access to our employability and learning resources for as long as they need it.

Speaking more in depth about the software and the role it plays for Plymouth Marjon students, Philippa said:

“Abintegro has been essential for us, and it’s really great because it’s accessible to our students 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. It’s an incredibly powerful tool. The software is constantly developing, and so we’re always ahead of the game when it comes to helping our students and alumni with employability.”

“On Abintegro, there’s an interactive CV reviewer and an interview simulation programme, which means the students can get real-time feedback on their CVs and interviews, which is pivotal when it comes to them seeking graduate-level employment.”
