Joshua Guy, a PhD student working under the supervision of Professor Andrew Edwards at the University of St Mark & St John won the Best Oral Student Presentation Award at the annual British Association of Sport & Exercise Sciences (BASES) conference at St George’s Park, Burton on Trent this week. Joshua’s presentation examined the effects of short and medium term heat acclimation on performance and the immune system for athletes preparing to compete in major sports events in hot conditions, such as the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
