Plymouth Marjon University has announced it will be hosting its graduation ceremonies at The Minster Church of St Andrew. The move allows maintenance works to be carried out on the Plymouth Guildhall.
The University will be hosting its 2023 graduation ceremonies at St Andrew’s Church in Plymouth City Centre. The Church boasts a large space under its grand beams and towering stained glass for graduates to receive recognition for their hard work toward their degrees.
Plymouth Marjon University has held its graduations at the Plymouth Guildhall for several years and has seen thousands of students become graduates at the events.
Helen Thewlis, Corporate Events Officer at Marjon and project leader for the graduation ceremonies, said:
“St Andrew’s Church is the perfect setting for our graduation ceremonies. It provides the pomp and ceremony deserved by our graduands and aligns with our values as a Church of England University. We are thankful to the Church for hosting our ceremonies and are looking forward to this year’s graduation.”
St Andrew’s Church is known to date back to the 12th century and has been restored three times after events like the Plymouth Blitz in World War II in which the Church has badly damaged.
The University’s graduation ceremonies will take place on Tuesday 24 October and Wednesday 25 October 2023.
