As the young people of Plymouth received their BTEC and A-level results, Plymouth Marjon University called out to students to stay hopeful and appreciate their talents no matter what their results. Marjon held a stand in the city centre handing out Love HeartTM sweets from Sunday 11th August to Saturday 17th August, reminding people that they’re not defined by their exam results.
Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Success, Katy Willis, said: “At Marjon we encourage people to be more than they ever thought possible. We know that assessing how well someone will do at university is about more than the grades they apply with; it’s about the whole picture. We encourage people to apply to Marjon because we know that with the right attitude, hard work and some really brilliant teaching, students can beat all expectations at university.”
The Love Hearts, branded “Marjon loves you” were part of a stand to provide practical advice to people nervous about their results, unsure about university or who may not have got the results they wanted. Throughout the week, there was a current student on hand talking about the experience at Marjon, as well as a member of staff providing practical advice on Clearing.
Kiera Vickery, who worked on the stand in the city centre, said:
“Talking to people this week, I’ve had some really lovely conversations about Clearing. We’ve spoken to alumni about the University, we’ve spoken to lots of people about the courses we provide, and we’ve been able to help people who may be confused about university and provide support and advice. It’s been a really positive experience overall.”
Clearing has been an all-round worthwhile and beneficial process at Marjon so far, but if you, or someone you know is still looking to apply to university to start this September, it’s not too late. You can call us on 0800 015 2534 visit our clearing website to find out more.
